My approach

Working from a relational perspective, I believe our primary relationships and early life experiences lay foundations that echo through the rest of our lives, exploring these themes can help us to gain greater self awareness, and address unhelpful behaviours, thought patterns and feelings. The therapeutic relationship, between the counsellor and the client in the present moment, provides the environment that makes positive change possible. In order for that to happen, my goal is to create a space where you feel safe, supported, and free to express yourself authentically without being judged.

There is no universal or ‘right’ approach to therapy, as an Integrative Counsellor,  I draw on ideas from humanistic, psychodynamic, behavioural and existential schools of thought which allows the sessions to focus on your individual and unique needs. It may be that you need a space to be truly heard, or that there are issues from the past that remain unresolved. Perhaps there are specific relationships and behaviours you’d like to address or to explore broader questions around life’s meaning and your role in the world.

I am here to work with you, to help you create the changes that you desire. Positive improvements may appear in a number of ways, such as improved personal relationships, a greater sense of peace, fewer addictions, better self care and increased self esteem.  Our sessions will be regularly reviewed to make sure that they are effective and that you are getting what you want from them.
